Tecnología para llegar a la cumbre

El edificio Grand Tower de Frankfurt, en la actualidad el complejo residencial más alto de Alemania, se completó en junio de 2020. En su interior, Uponor ha implementado uno de los contratos más importantes en la historia de la empresa. Más de 400 pisos, apartamentos y áticos del edificio están equipados con estaciones de transferencia de calor (HIU) de Uponor. El principal motivo para la adjudicación del contrato fueron las elevadas exigencias que se imponían al suministro de calefacción y refrigeración en las viviendas de lujo. En consecuencia, las soluciones desarrolladas expresamente para el proyecto garantizan un confort térmico individual óptimo para los residentes, así como una separación clara de las redes primaria y secundaria en el edificio. Las unidades compactas se suministraron en un paquete completo con tecnología de control precableada, lo que aceleró los procedimientos de trabajo in situ.

Además, en el rascacielos residencial se utilizaron unos 300.000 metros de tubería Uponor Comfort para calefacción y refrigeración por suelo radiante.

El edificio Grand Tower construido en el distrito Europa de Frankfurt presenta una arquitectura impresionante y dinámica y ofrece un confort de vida exclusivo. Este proyecto pionero ha recibido numerosos premios de gran prestigio, como el German Design Award y el International Property Award 2017 por adelantado.
De hecho, el rascacielos residencial de 47 pisos ofrece a sus ocupantes diversas prestaciones destacadas, incluido un vestíbulo con servicio de conserjería, una azotea ajardinada de 1.000 m2  y un solárium a una altura de 145 metros. Los pisos y apartamentos tienen entre 41 y 300 m2 y cuentan con ventanales de suelo a techo que ofrecen una vista espectacular de Frankfurt y de la región de Taunus.

Puntos de transferencia de calor y frío

Las elevadas exigencias en términos de flexibilidad y confort se reflejan en el suministro de calefacción y refrigeración utilizado en el rascacielos. Se basa en una conexión a la calefacción urbana con una capacidad de 2,5 MW y dos enfriadores instalados en el techo, cada uno con una potencia de 600 kW. Las unidades de interfaz de calor sirven como puntos de transferencia de calor y frío a las zonas de estar. Las Estaciones reciben agua caliente y fría mediante las columnas ascendentes de distribución y emplean intercambiadores de calor integrados que garantizan que el primario y el secundario estén separado de manera definida, así como una distribución energética según se necesite para cada consumidor. En las plantas inferiores, hasta la número 42, las unidades residenciales están equipadas con calefacción y refrigeración por suelo radiante y con un radiador en el cuarto de baño. Por su parte, las plantas superiores cuentan también con refrigeración por techo radiante.

Confort de vida individual

La separación entre los circuitos de calefacción y refrigeración primario y secundario en el rascacielos residencial ofrece varias ventajas. Los residentes pueden usar las unidades para ajustar la temperatura ambiente con el fin de satisfacer sus necesidades individuales de manera completamente independiente del sistema general. Esto también se aplica al cambio automático entre los modos de calefacción y refrigeración, lo que aumenta significativamente el confort de vida. La válvula de seis vías que integran estas Estaciones (HIU) de transferencia de calor garantiza que los consumidores reciban de manera estable la velocidad de caudal necesaria de agua caliente y fría en todo momento, tanto en el modo de calefacción como en el de refrigeración.

Gracias a que las Estaciones no están vinculadas entre sí, en caso de producirse un fallo de funcionamiento en este complejo sistema, puede localizarse con rapidez el origen de la avería. Si este se encuentra en la zona habitable, el resto del sistema de calefacción/refrigeración seguirá funcionando al 100 % durante las reparaciones. Las unidades también facilitan los proyectos de reforma de la refrigeración por techo radiante, ya que las conexiones necesarias ya están disponibles y la actualización se puede llevar a cabo sin afectar al resto del sistema.

Seguridad y certificación

Por otro lado, las columnas ascendentes requieren una elevada presión para garantizar que la energía se distribuya de manera estable en el complejo y que esté perfectamente equilibrada mediante las estaciones de transferencia de calor. Con este propósito, se han llevado a cabo pruebas exhaustivas con las tuberías utilizadas en las soluciones, a fin de certificarlas para presiones nominales de hasta PN 25. Además, se utilizan reguladores de presión diferencial dinámicos que reducen la presión del sistema (PN 16) al nivel óptimo para los circuitos secundarios durante la transferencia a los circuitos de calefacción.

El ajuste preciso de las estaciones de transferencia de calor a las estrictas demandas del edificio desempeñó una función importante en la adjudicación del contrato. Además, Uponor proporcionó a los socios del proyecto un amplio asesoramiento y apoyo. El alto nivel de flexibilidad requerido en la producción de las estaciones de transferencia también fue clave, puesto que se tuvieron que entregar diez de ellas por semana en la obra en la fase inicial.
