Vanha vedenottamo päivitettiin nykyaikaan
Hietasärkän vedenottamo kuuluu Suomussalmen vesihuoltojärjestelmään, jonka tehtävänä on varmistaa puhtaan juomaveden riittävyys kuntalaisten tarpeisiin. Vesijohtoverkoston korroosiovaurioita torjuttiin aikaisemmin lipeän avulla, mutta turvallisuusriskien vuoksi sen tilalle vaihdettiin kemikaalivapaa menetelmä. Samassa yhteydessä vedenottamolla tehtiin laaja kokonaissaneeraus.

Ease of installation is key
Weholite pipes are light and easy to install. They really come into their own in a project in the harbour of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand – the extension of an old stormwater line using massivepipes with an internal diameter of 3–3.5 metres. In this busy harbour area, it is not possible to carry outlarge-scale excavation work. The soil of the region and strong tides pose their own challenges.

Hybridiratkaisuja hulevesien hallintaan
Suomessa oli herätty siihen, että hulevedet kuormittavat vesistöjä ravinteilla ja raskasmetalleilla. Lahden Vesijärvessä tilanne oli erityisen paha fosforin osalta. Lahden kaupunki näki Ranta-Kartanossa tilaisuuden suunnitella asuinalue niin, että osa alueesta varataan hulevesien käsittelyyn. Ranta-Kartanon hulevesien hallinnassa testataan Uponorin valmistamia suodattimia, jotka viivyttävät ja puhdistavat valumavesiä.
