Mr. Ma Yun spent one billion RMB to make Alibaba headquarters a luxury modern architecture. It is the first time Alibaba built the working park by their own. Uponor underfloor system was installed 5,000 square meters for senior management offices in Alibaba headquarters.
The design of the building is in accordance with the LEED gold certification standards. In order to develop the spirit of continuous innovation, the owners require all building materials to have energy saving and environmental protection effects.
We use PE-Xa and stainless steel manifolds to provide ground radiation heating and cooling system for the building. Uponor PE-Xa has high flexibility and good wear resistance, which can stand the harsh conditions in construction site. It can also stand high temperature and high pressure. Uponor is the first company to produce PE-Xa pipe by engel process. Uponor PE-Xa pipe has five layers. It has two more layers then the other PE-Xa pipe on the market.
The base layer is crosslined, which is produced according to the requirements of PE-Xa pipe standard. It has the characteristics of durability, impact resistance and stress cracking resistance. The second layer acts like an adhesive to the base layer and the third oxygen barrier. The third layer prevents oxygen from penetrating into the radiant heating and cooling system. The fourth layer acts as a bond between PE outer protective layer and the oxygen barrier. The fifth PE layer is an outer protective layer to prevent the pipe from the damage caused by the leakage of oxygen, especially when installing on the surface of the concrete floor.
Uponor stainless steel manifold has the advantages of high corrosion resistance, high sanitation and stronge impact resistance. The coefficient of thermal expansion is close to that of brass. The valve can be rotated and is easy to connect the drain pipe.

Varicool heating and cooling panels were installed to the meeting room's ceiling. The new hydronic system replaced the old fan coil unit system. Varicool system is a radiant heating and cooling system. The panels do not heat or cool the indoor air directly but the surfaces what radiant covers.
