In 2008-2011 in Cherdaklinsky district of Ulyanovsky region a large investment project of the world-famous production company Mars, Inc has been implementing: it is planned to built a candy factory and a pet food factory. Agreement on the construction of these two factories was signed by the Head of the region Sergei Morozov and the President of "Mars" in the CIS Richard Smyth at the World Economic Forum in Sochi in 2007.
Mars LLC is the Russian division of a multinational corporation, Mars, Incorporated, one of the world's leading candy and pet food manufacturers. Key brands are: Mars, Bounty, Snickers, Rondo, Pedigree, Chappi, Whiskas, Kitekat.
The first line of factory for production of pet food started to work in September 2009. Candy line is not yet started. New production facilities should distribute the goods not only in Ulyanovsk region, but all over the Volga region, Urals and the southern part of Russia. It is much more profitable than delivering candies and pet food from Mars production facilities located in Moscow and Novosibirsk.
Total investments amount to more than 4,6 billion rubles, when all the production lines are started about 500 working places will be available.
