Ecological living and a feel-good climate in rental housing

High level of comfort meets low energy costs

The new summer cottage house in Suolahti, Äänekoski, is using floor heating and cooling controlled by an Uponor Smatrix Pulse control system. The heat source will be a NIBE geothermal heat pump. Uponor and NIBE were responsible for the design and sizing of the heating and cooling system for the new house.

Due to the interest rates of the floor structures, underfloor heating at Uponor's new head office required a solution that would raise the floor surface as little as possible. A functional result was achieved with an unusual implementation, low-structure underfloor heating plates, which are mainly used in renovations of detached houses, and which increase the floor height by only 15 millimetres.

Sami Kapanen's dream home was built in 2012 on the shore of Lake Kallavesi near Kuopio. The log house is one of the largest private detached houses in Finland. The house required almost four times as much building services material as a normal detached houses.

Since 2004 a transparent building in the shape of a crystal and swimming pools shaped like satellites have been drawing a daily total of up to 900 visitors, all seeking well-being, to Längenfeld.
