GF Senior Design Engineer Zachary Londo Talks All Things Radiant on Consulting-Specifying Engineer Podcast
By Maddy Dolby
In the episode titled, “When, where can radiant hydronic HVAC systems deliver results?” Londo explains radiant heating and cooling applications, capital expenses, and various considerations of radiant systems.
“Radiant systems are really well positioned to directly address occupant comfort in a way that air systems cannot,” Londo said. “A great way to think about it is the building (kind of) becoming a thermal sponge.”
He explained that a building will emit heat, making it feel like a warm hug, or absorb heat, like a cool spa sanctuary. Londo also touched on how a radiant system can improve indoor air quality and the level of microbiomes in the air without producing noise or a draft.
