Choosing the Right Expansion System: Uponor ProPEX® vs. PEX-b F1960

Not all PEX expansion fittings are created equal, and the connection system you choose on the jobsite makes a difference. Unlike PEX-b F1960 expansion systems, the Uponor ProPEX® connection system is engineered for strength, durability, and reliable performance.

PEX-b pipe is not ideal for expansion connections because it lacks the elasticity to shrink back securely to its original shape. Instead, installers typically use crimp or clamp rings around the outside of the pipe to make a PEX-b connection.

“The Uponor ProPEX connection system is the most reliable way to connect PEX pipe on the jobsite,” says GF Customer Trainer Jed Koep. “But we need to make sure we’re using the correct piping material to go along with that connection system to have a reliable system.”
