They also prioritized reliability to avoid repairs that would increase material consumption and environmental impact. For the developers, sustainability extended beyond environmental considerations to encompass the health and safety of installers. Their ideal solution would eliminate the need for torches to provide a safer connection method for installers while also removing fire-watch permits, which can hinder the construction schedule.
