Turning Sustainability into Business Values: GF Leaders Share Industry Insights
By Maddy Dolby
The episode, titled “Sustainability through Collaboration,” was recorded at the GF Flow Symposium, the company’s flagship industry event recently held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn. During the episode, Walsh and Zingg discussed the importance of sustainability in the industry and provided more insight into their breakout session: Building the Future of Sustainable Water Infrastructure: Intentional Innovation, Practical Partnerships, and Construction Collaboration.
“Our presentation was really around the commercialization of sustainability,” Zingg said. “So, moving away from data and the stereotypical sustainability topic, but rather saying how our business and the construction industry — wherever we’re working — has a sustainability impact.”
Zingg elaborated that the goal is to bring the commercial value-added impact to projects, allowing cost savings and environmental initiatives to partner hand-in-hand.
Walsh added during their breakout session, the two also touched on market realities, where there are barriers and enablers, and how building collaborations can help breakdown communication silos about sustainability in the industry.
