Mr. Ma Yun spent one billion RMB to make Alibaba headquarters a luxury modern architecture. It is the first time Alibaba built the working park by their own. Uponor underfloor system was installed 5,000 square meters for senior management offices in Alibaba headquarters.
The design of the building is in accordance with the LEED gold certification standards. In order to develop the spirit of continuous innovation, the owners require all building materials to have energy saving and environmental protection effects.
We use PE-Xa and stainless steel manifolds to provide ground radiation heating and cooling system for the building. Uponor PE-Xa has high flexibility and good wear resistance, which can stand the harsh conditions in construction site. It can also stand high temperature and high pressure. Uponor is the first company to produce PE-Xa pipe by engel process. Uponor PE-Xa pipe has five layers. It has two more layers then the other PE-Xa pipe on the market.
The base layer is crosslined, which is produced according to the requirements of PE-Xa pipe standard. It has the characteristics of durability, impact resistance and stress cracking resistance. The second layer acts like an adhesive to the base layer and the third oxygen barrier. The third layer prevents oxygen from penetrating into the radiant heating and cooling system. The fourth layer acts as a bond between PE outer protective layer and the oxygen barrier. The fifth PE layer is an outer protective layer to prevent the pipe from the damage caused by the leakage of oxygen, especially when installing on the surface of the concrete floor.
Uponor stainless steel manifold has the advantages of high corrosion resistance, high sanitation and stronge impact resistance. The coefficient of thermal expansion is close to that of brass. The valve can be rotated and is easy to connect the drain pipe.
Uponor system is extremely safe and reliable, almost free of maintenance, making it the first choice of ground radiant heating and cooling system.

Day-care centre to be built with energy piles
As requested by the City of Vantaa, the Vaaralanpuisto day-care centre has been planned based on the "nearly 0 energy days" concept. Construction work for the day-care centre began in late summer 2016, and the project will be completed in July 2017. Project costs are estimated at EUR 5.4 million, and the day-care centre will accommodate about 130 children. Among the various energy production options available for the site, the City of Vantaa chose the energy pile and solar thermal collector system jointly developed by Uponor and Ruukki.

The New Deichmanske Library - Bjørvika, Oslo
Deichman is equipped with Thermally Active Building System - a system for storing the energy in the concrete ceiling. It is primarily a cooling system, but it can also be used as a heating system. When in cooling mode, no energy is used as the heat is drawn into the concrete, only when it is transferred from the concrete and into the water pipes that are cast in the decking. The need for installed power is reduced, and operating expenses are significantly reduced as opposed to in a air-based cooling system. Due to the interest rates of the floor structures, underfloor heating at Uponor's new head office required a solution that would raise the floor surface as little as possible. A functional result was achieved with an unusual implementation, low-structure underfloor heating plates, which are mainly used in renovations of detached houses, and which increase the floor height by only 15 millimetres.
