Reparación de fugas en tuberías de cobre con las tuberías AquaPEX® de Uponor
Bob y Patti Jones de Tellico Village, una comunidad de primera categoría cerca de Knoxville, Tennessee, estaban completamente desconcertados y confundidos. Durante un período de 12 meses, contrataron a plomeros tres veces para reparar las fugas de orificios pequeños que tenían las tuberías de cobre en varias partes de su vivienda. Y no eran los únicos. Varios residentes de Tellico Village también lidiaban con el problema recurrente de fugas de orificios pequeños en sus tuberías de cobre de suministro de agua. Según se informó, de un 10 % a un 15 % de las familias se vieron afectadas, y solo se informaron aproximadamente 100 casos de fugas de orificios pequeños durante el segundo trimestre de 2005.

Las tuberías AquaPEX® duraderas son la solución
En el caso de la familia Jones, se llamó a Marty Myers de A-1 Plumbing Co., Inc. para investigar una solución de tuberías permanente. Después de examinar exhaustivamente todas las alternativas, incluidas las tuberías de CPVC, Myers eligió las tuberías AquaPEX® de Uponor. “Nos asombró lo rápido que se instalaban”, dijo Patti Jones. “Además, nos gustó el hecho de que el producto de tuberías PEX era menos invasivo para nuestra casa que las tuberías de cobre. Se reemplazaron cerca del 90 % de las tuberías por tuberías PEX en la vivienda. No se tocaron las pocas zonas a las que no fue fácil llegar, es decir, sin tener que hacer daño grave a las placas de yeso, a pesar del hecho de que podrían aparecer fugas de orificios pequeños en algún momento en el futuro también en esas zonas. Los vecinos Robert y Susan Brackenridge, por otro lado, no se quisieron arriesgar. Decidieron que el equipo de Myers reemplazara todas las tuberías de la vivienda de 3,500 pies cuadrados. En el momento en que llegó Myers, el agua de las fugas de orificios pequeños había causado mucho daño a un sector del cielorraso.
