 Improvements to Storgata north, from Fredrik Langes gate northward to Bispegata, in a style similar to the previous improvements to Storgata south. The section to be improved is 350 meters long, and heating loops will be installed in the area near Torgsenteret.
The project is part of the City of Tromsø’s overall plan for stormwater management, and it will be carried out in a sustainable manner in line with the goals of the Metropolitan Declaration to achieve emission-free construction sites by 2025.
In addition to establishing a new stormwater management system, the project includes, among other things, a street heating system. This is mandatory for all sidewalks in winter-cold Tromsø. In Storgata, street heating will be installed across the entire width of the street. The system is powered by a district heating plant that incinerates waste, and heating is provided via water-based heat.
Uponor has supplied approximately 28,000 m of Meltaway pipes, mounting rails, Magna manifolds, and Ecoflex for connection to the manifolds.
