James Griffiths

James Griffiths is Head of Projects at GF Building Flow Solutions UK and Ireland. With over 27 years' experience at GF, predominantly with Uponor, James has worked on a variety of commercial and residential projects.

James' motto is 'changing the world one pipe at a time' and he is just as passionate about projects now as he was 20 years ago. He believes it is vital to take learning from other markets in order to make an impactful change and is passionate about educating the industry.

He manages both the project development teams and the Technical & Design support functions, maintaining close involvement across all stages of delivery. He is a hands-on leader, equally comfortable presenting CIBSE-certified CPDs to clients and stakeholders as he is working through technical challenges on new projects. His approach combines practical problem-solving with strong technical knowledge, ensuring issues are identified early and resolved efficiently to keep projects on track.

He considers design as an extremely important stage within the construction of a building and works closely with MEP consultants to design systems with longevity and efficiency in mind. A stickler for detail, James is always looking at marginal improvements to improve the building's performance, something his customers value.

Originally trained as an Electrical Engineer, James chose to retrain as a Mechanical Engineer, including Construction Site Management. It was after becoming a Mechanical Engineer that James spent 12 years working as a Senior Project/Design Engineer at Uponor. In this role he provided design and technical support for systems and controls, played a key part in designing technically sound project solutions and became part of the team involved in product review. He worked with a broad range of customers including developers, main contractors, M&E consultants.

His interest in how the whole solution can impact the performance of a building, led to James' role evolving over the years to include the strategic development of Uponor's Special Project team. He has collaborated with a variety of customers and teams to deliver bespoke projects within the UK indoor climate market and across the wider building service sector or similar.

Outside of work, when not on the golf course or walking his best friend, Winston the dog, James can be found reading journals or in his garage tinkering – taking things apart and building them back up to see how they were made.

Originally trained as an Electrical Engineer, James later retrained as a Mechanical Engineer, including Construction Site Management. Following this transition, he spent 12 years at Uponor as a Senior Project/Design Engineer, providing design and technical support for systems and controls. He played a key role in developing technically robust project solutions and contributed to product review activities, working with a broad range of stakeholders including developers, main contractors, and M&E consultants. From there, James progressed into senior sales leadership roles before returning to projects to lead the direction and delivery of project solutions across the UK. He has been a member of the UK Commercial Leadership team for the past 8 years, bringing combined experience across engineering, sales, and project delivery to drive strategic outcomes

Anthony Kay is Business Development for the North of the UK in the Projects Team at GF Building Flow Solutions. His varied role spans from engaging with consultants and developers on the best pipework design to meet the latest legislation and regulations through to advising on how to use GF's broad range of revit plug-ins and BIM files most effectively.

Anthony is proud to work closely with consultants on more complex projects that require innovative ways of thinking. He thrives on breaking down a problem, looking for ways to simplify and provide the most effective solution. One recent project is a train depot in Yorkshire that required underfloor heating under the platforms of the maintenance shed.

Anthony enjoys talking to consultants about how far MLCP has technologically improved and how it is a credible, more sustainable alternative to copper or steel. He's always more than happy to present a CPD on the subject and share his knowledge on how to create the most energy efficient pipework system.

He is passionate about improving the built environment for the better - to find ways to create a joined-up thinking approach to provide more sustainable solutions. He is excited about the future of the industry and believes the energy transition allows for more opportunities to innovate and improve building performance.

Anthony is fully committed to the work GF are doing to improve the sustainability of product ranges and works with teams to advise on how to use EPDs most effectively, something he can then share with his customers.

Outside of work Anthony is a keen cyclist, both road and mountain bike and loves exploring the local countryside as a way to keep fit. When he is not on two wheels, you'll find him researching his passion for Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) and visiting Leeds Armoury to see the oldest book on the subject.
