Lancé durant l'été 2012, le projet de l'Eco Village consiste en 18 sites d'habitation et un centre communautaire sur cinq acres de terrain qui partagent des systèmes d'énergie renouvelable (solaire et géothermique), des passerelles, des jardins collectifs, des paysages comestibles, des espaces verts et un parc d'automobiles électriques communes pour le quartier.
Comme avec tous les projets Habitat for Humanity, les propriétaires donnent de leur temps pour construire leurs propres maisons avec l'aide de bénévoles. Depuis le début de la construction en été 2012 jusqu'à fin 2013, les employés d'Uponor se sont portés volontaires pour plus de 1 500 heures sur le site du projet avec l'aide du programme de rémunération du temps du bénévolat (VTO) de la société.
« Quatre priorités guident les efforts d'Uponor en matière de durabilité : conserver l'eau, réduire les déchets, améliorer l'efficacité énergétique et responsabiliser la main-d'œuvre », déclare Ingrid Mattsson, directeur de la marque et de la responsabilité sociale d'entreprise d'Uponor et membre fondateur de l'équipe de durabilité de la société. « Être un partenaire pilier du projet de l'Eco Village, doter les habitations de nos produits et avoir nos employés bénévoles sur le site est un parfait exemple de notre mission. »

Getting rid of indoor radon

The biological treatment plant is worth its price
The Murto family, from Savonlinna, Finland, live in a sturdy log cabin built in 1845. The waste water system of the house had last been overhauled in the 1970s and the old concrete wells and absorption field had reached the end of their lifecycle. The choice was between renovating the old wells and getting an Uponor biological treatment plant, and the decision was not difficult to make.

The new summer cottage house in Suolahti, Äänekoski, is using floor heating and cooling controlled by an Uponor Smatrix Pulse control system. The heat source will be a NIBE geothermal heat pump.
