Skaraborgsvatten i södra Sverige behövde ersätta sin gamla dricksvattenledning som idag är gjord av trä med en ny ledning i polyeten. Det nya systemet var inte bara enkelt och snabbt att installera - det är även slagtåligt och motstår stor mekanisk påfrestning.

Helt enligt kundens önskemål - det var exakt vad en designad lösning med Wehopanel som garanterade att en gammal pumpstation i Vellinge kommun blev renoverad och modern.

En nästan två kilometer lång infrakulvert med en innerdiameter på 2,2 meter inrymmer alla rördragningar som behövs för infrastrukturen i en ny stadsdel i den sydsvenska staden Linköping. Utgrävningar i gator och bostadsområden är snart historia, eftersom allt underhåll och installationsarbete kommer att kunna utföras i infrakulverten.

1960 lät man kulvertera Fifalla-ån som rinner genom Valdemarsvik ut i Valdemars-viken. I slutet på 1800-talet byggdes Lundbergs Läderfabrik över den sista delen av ån vid utloppet men 1960 kom alltså en kulvert på plats, fram till fabriken under Storgatan som Trafikverket ansvarar för. Den kulverten bestod av galvad plåt och den förväntade livslängden var 50 år. Nu var den gränsen passerad och för ett par år sedan uppstod ett slukhål på kommunhusets parkeringsplats.
 

Nodra har valt att installera en Uponor Vault i området Smedby i Norrköping med utlopp i Ljura bäck. Området kallas Smedby Klimatanpassning och är ett projekt som bland annat handlar om att ta hand om förorenat dagvatten innan det når Östersjön.

 

När 250 millimetersrören Profuse ersätter gamla 150 millimetersrör i gjutjärn på en två kilometer lång sträcka i Frufällan, får samhället en betydande kapacitetsökning för den livsviktiga vattentillgången. Dessutom ger de nya rören färre beläggningar och därmed mindre servicebehov och bättre hygien.

 

I samband med ett projekt i Sigtuna levereras de första rören Ultra Rib 2 Blue. En ny generations rör med upp till 70 % reducerat koldioxidutsläpp. En betydande del av oljan till rören kommer nämligen från avfallsindustrin och är vegetabilisk.

 

Ett av de största dagvattenmagasinen i Sverige, med en imponerande kapacitet på 2180 kubik i dimension DN2000 SN4 Weholite installerades i Solna.

In December 2011 Central Finland´s ELY –centre (The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment) started significant road constructing project in Jyväskylä. With a bit of good luck, a property can overcome rains without flooding, but fewer and fewer count on such luck. As its stormwater solution, a waste power plant to be built in southern Finland chose one-hundred-metre long Weholite tanks.
 

Roihu 2016 – the 7th International Finnjamboree organised by Suomen Partiolaiset - Finlands Scouter ry, was held at the Evo campsite in Hämeenlinna on 20–28 July 2016. A camp for 17,100 people was built in a forest area owned by Metsähallitus. Some 3,000 participants arrived from abroad – from about 40 different countries. Uponor delivered 7,600 metres of pipes to the area. The pipes were used to supply clean water and to lead grey water away from the area in a controlled manner.

To rebuild an office building located in the heart of Amsterdam into 150 appartments in a relatively short time is definitely a big challenge.

Uponor’s Weholite technology was the key solution in a unique project in London, where the Lee Tunnel and Thames Tideway tunnel have the task of capturing an average of 39 million tonnes of sewage a year from the 35 most polluting combined sewer overflows (CSOs). An upgraded pipeline system was designed to reduce the number of overflows – and their environmental impact – from the sewers and treatment systems serving London. A particular aim is to limit pollution from the sewers and treatment systems connected to the Beckton and Crossness sewage treatment works.

Rapid action was critical when a sewage collector broke in Warsaw, Poland, causing a massive waste spill into the Vistula River. Uponor Infra’s crew worked 24 hours a day in order to stop the pollution of the river. A temporary pipeline was produced, delivered and connected in just eight days.

In 2007 in Szczecin, a series of record-breaking in the European scale number of crossings of a high dimension PEHD pipeline under a water obstacle made with a horizontal drilling method was completed in Szczecin.

Nineteen kilometres of polyethylene pipes with diameters of 1000 mm and 1400 mm connected the southern area of Warsaw with "Południe" sewage treatment plant and the Vistula.

A sea outlet of treated wastewater was initiated in Swarzewo. It is yet another of the many environmentally friendly projects that have recently been carried out in Poland where PE pipes were used.

City of Lahti is building new neighborhood called Ranta-Kartano. While they were constructing basic infrastucture the city saw the possibilty to reserve some ground space for storm water management. Now there is a test running for different kind of storm water management. Uponor is involved with new type of storm water filter.

The new loading and parking area of Volvo’s central warehouse in Vantaa was asphalted, which called for a solution to effectively and reliably channel storm water from the area. Uponor’s new IQ infiltration pipes were selected as the solution to infiltrate and delay storm water on the plot.

The Water Monitoring Services developed by Uponor Infra enable real-time monitoring of water supply networks – deviations in the network can then be detected and located quickly. Pori, a coastal city in southern Finland, started monitoring an area on the periphery of its water supply network where leaks had caused problems over the years.

The wastewater from the new biopower plant will be collected in a Weholite tank designed by Uponor for the site.

Water company Ylä-Savon Vesi Oy needed a solution to improve the water quality in water supply process. The solution was an aeration tank made of Weholite.

The renovation of the Konotopa channel is one of the most interesting hydro projects recently completed in Warsaw, Poland. 

About 1 km of Weholite pipes were installed in Philippines as cooling water intake and outfall pipelines for the Petron Bataan Refinery (PBR).  The Project Service team at Uponor Infra offered a turnkey solutions for the project.

A Weholite alkalization plant was installed alongside new groundwater intake facility in Kuhmo, Finland. The system is built in the factory, ready for installation.

The global mineral fertiliser, industrial chemicals and environmental products supplier Yara of Norway renewed the water supply to its factory in Glomfjord, close to the Arctic Circle in the north of Norway, with 1.8 kilometres of PE1,000mm pressure pipe. Extremely demanding terrain, limited infrastructure and the most stringent safety requirements demanded exceptional expertise and planning.

September 2018 saw the launch of the project for a stormwater drainage system in Rzeszów, almost 26 kilometres long, in the residential District of Budziwój, which partially coincides with the floodplain of the River Wisłok. One of the elements of this system is the retention canal. The project, scheduled for delivery by May 2020, will help to finally solve flooding problems which have been plaguing the residents of this region of Poland.

The Ultra Rib 2 Blue pipes were first launched in Sweden – this year, the pipes have already been installed at several locations. In Finland, a pilot installation was carried out in early autumn in the Jalkaranta district of Lahti, a few kilometres from the city centre.

In Slagelse Municipality, there are requirements for the drainage of rainwater and wastewater to be separated, and therefore it was important that the wastewater solution on the street, Nordre Ringgade, was also updated in accordance with current legislation. The client has received an approved solution where the wastewater from the commercial property in no. 59 has been separated from the rainwater. The rainwater is now diverted directly from the 2,500 m2 car park.

In 2020, Uponor did an outstanding job of installing an emergency pipeline on a pontoon bridge after an underground GRP sewage collector failed in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. 

In Mielec, modern storm water and snowmelt retention systems have been built, which will solve the problems with periodical flooding of streets and buildings in the city centre.

In 2020, the water main between the reservoirs and the Paprocany pumping station in Tychy was upgraded with PE-HD pressure pipes by Uponor Infra.

In 2021, a renovation of a corroded sewage collector was carried out in Swarzewo using a tight-fitting method.

The Pateniemi waterfront area in Oulu, Northern Finland played a role in the history of Finnish industrialisation. In the mid-19th century, its shipyard built large merchant vessels, and later it was the location of one of the largest sawmills of its time. Now, the waterfront is entering a new era with the completion of a residential area for 2,500 inhabitants. Uponor Barrier PLUS pipes – which are both durable and non-permeable – ensure a safe supply of potable water in this area that was in industrial use for over 100 years.

A backup sewage collector has been built in Warsaw to service 7 of the city’s 18 boroughs.

Nastola's plans initially featured a pipeline but this was replaced with a runoff tunnel. Thanks to the quick and easy installation, the time originally set aside for the project could be halved.

In Kajaani, a pressurised sewer that has broken down due to faulty installation will be renewed by relining. This reliable and fast method will also be cheaper than excavating for the site.

In an ordinary village with less than 1,000 residents, a reservoir tank would normally be unnecessary, but Tuuri in Southern Ostrobothnia in Western Finland is not an ordinary village. The village tourist attraction draws visitors up to six million visitors annually. This needs special solution for potable water delivery.
