Cold tap water distribution

Ecoflex Supra cannot be used for domestic hot water. It is intended for cold water use only. The PE-HD flow pipe is sized for tmax = 20°C and p = 10 bar.

The frost resistance of Ecoflex Supra depends on the size of the flow pipe and the protective casing. The frost resistance table can be found in the design and installation manual. For example, Ecoflex Supra Plus 32/68 can withstand frost down to approximately -25°C (on the outer surface of the protective casing).

Ecoflex Supra pipes can withstand freezing. However, it should be noted that metal fittings and other components may be damaged if they freeze. The unfreezing time of a frozen pipe depends on the prevailing conditions. When the cable is powered, the ice will melt sufficiently within about an hour to allow water to flow.

The maximum coil length for Ecoflex Supra Plus is 150 metres (sizes 25-75 mm) and 100 metres (sizes 90-110 mm). The maximum electrical supply length for the self-regulating cable from a single point is 150 metres. The maximum coil length for Uponor Supra Standard with a constant wattage cable depends on the pipe size. A table with the maximum lengths for different sizes can be found in the manual or in the product online catalogue.

Uponor Supra is recommended to be installed at a depth of at least 20-30 cm, where it is protected from mechanical stress. If necessary, it can also be laid on the surface of the ground, rock, ice, or snow, provided it is protected from damage. In traffic areas, the recommended cover depth for the pipes is 100 cm.

The end of Uponor Supra can be installed below the water surface. With the proper Uponor end cap, the pipe element remains watertight.

A standard resistance cable always provides the same power per metre, depending on the connection method and length. The operation of the cable is controlled by a control unit and a sensor. A sensor attached to the surface of the cable informs the control unit of any heating requirements. The maintained temperature can be adjusted continuously between 0 and 30 degrees, which is monitored by the control unit.

The Uponor Ecoflex pipe comes with ready-made heating cable connections. If you want to shorten the protective pipe, it is advisable to pull out a sufficient length of the heating cable from inside the protective pipe and cut only the protective pipe. This way, the heating cable connections remain intact. The connection end will have extra heating cable corresponding to the length by which the protective pipe is shortened.
