Uponor Ltd's latest installation is a futuristic plumbing system that will supply amenities to one of the most advanced buildings in the country. The NV Buildings in Salford Quays, Manchester, are Countryside Properties homage to modern living, with the development's three stunning towers designed by Manchester based architects Broadway & Malyan housing a total of 246, one, two and three bedroomed apartments and penthouses. Residents enjoy the luxury of security and maintenance services in-line with the city's top hotels.
As you would expect, all of the NV Buildings structures, which were put in place by Mitie Engineering, utilise the very latest construction materials and techniques.
The advanced water systems installed by H.E. Simms employ Uponor's state-of-the-art manifold plumbing techniques and risers, allowing each plumbed-in appliance to be individually isolated if it fails meaning residents can effectively 'switch-off' the supply to sinks, toilet's etc. instead of watching the water rise around them as they wait for a plumber if something goes wrong. Uponor's flexible plumbing systems therefore provide the NV Buildings with safe and reliable plumbing, with over 15,000 meters of the easy-to-install, form-stable pipe being fitted in the first tower alone.

Underfloor heating for single family home with Comfort E
Uponor’s electric underfloor heating system, Comfort E, was installed to a single family house, built in 1984, during the renovation project. Electric underfloor heating was carried out throughout the house, except for the sauna and shower rooms, which are still under planning.

Getting rid of indoor radon
Uponor's radon system was installed in a detached house in Ilomantsi, completed in 1987. Previously, the radon values in the house were 1,188 becquerels. After installing the system, the radon values dropped to 83.
Kapanen's dream home is a fine place to live
Sami Kapanen's dream home was built in 2012 on the shore of Lake Kallavesi near Kuopio. The log house is one of the largest private detached houses in Finland. The house required almost four times as much building services material as a normal detached houses.
A pilot project that still works like a dream
Ervi and Liisa Helanto were among the first to own a Uponor biological treatment plant in Finland. The plant was installed in 1999. The user feedback that has been obtained since then has played an important role in the development of the device.
The biological treatment plant is worth its price
The Murto family, from Savonlinna, Finland, live in a sturdy log cabin built in 1845. The waste water system of the house had last been overhauled in the 1970s and the old concrete wells and absorption field had reached the end of their lifecycle. The choice was between renovating the old wells and getting an Uponor biological treatment plant, and the decision was not difficult to make.
Increased living comfort thanks to underfloor cooling in a single-family house in Oulu
The heating system of a two-storey wooden one-family house built in 2004 was renovated in 2011 by upgrading Uponor's hydronic underfloor heating to an underfloor cooling system.

A single-family house built in 1982 in Lahti underwent water supply renovation in May 2016. The decision was made because the house was 34 years old and its original copper pipes had never been changed.
Renovation of the district heating piping system of six housing companies
Six housing companies located in the Hurttivuori district in Turku have a joint heating plant – Nokikana Oy. The terraced houses, which were built between 1975 and 1977, contain a total of 104 flats. Heating and water are supplied to all flats by a joint heating plant. Renovating the piping system became a necessity due to leaks. The plant's insulated elements were renovated in such a way that all residents were able to live in their homes for the entire duration of the renovation.

On the 1.23 acre property, there are three 5-story blocks of 32, 31 and 25 flats respectively. The most important aspect in the design of the flats was to create ideal living-space, thus homes between 46 m2 and 105 m2 can be found in the buildings.
