The Mapo Oil Depot is a valuable industrial legacy of Seoul but has been forgotten for quite a long time since its original purpose was terminated. With an aim of sustainability and rehabilitation, not only demolishing the old facilities, the Government decided to re-design and recycle the old structure. The Seoul Metropolitan Government expect to create an eco-friendly and multi-cultural spaces in that territory, while adding new features to the facilities but also revive its memory, history and uniqueness.

Five oil tanks were built in 1976 but became obsoleted and deserted from 2000. Now two of them (Oil tank No. 1 & No. 2) will be disassembled, and those steel plates will be re-used to construct a new tank (Oil tank No. 6). The rest of tanks will be converted into exhibits and cultural facilities while preserving the original form.

In the new tank No. 6, Uponor Tecto underfloor Heating and Cooling systems was selected as part of the project to achieve eco-friendly and sustainability goal. Four stories in total 1,650m² of the Tank 6 floor spaces will be conditioning by Uponor Tecto system. The No. 6 tank is decided as an 'Information Exchange Center' capable of accommodating up to 300 people, and will serve as a reading room for citizens to come and see various materials related to Seoul's urban regeneration.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government committed to make this place a new landmark of Seoul, and show a clear direction in which the urban space of Seoul should be developed.

The joint renovation project in Maunula – cost savings through co-operation

In the Maunula district of Helsinki, an exquisite joint renovation project is under way. The project, begun in 2012, involves six housing companies. Postitalo, the former post office building in downtown Tampere, got a new look in 2017 when it was renovated into new commercial premises and a block of flats was built on top. The heat distribution system of choice was Uponor's underfloor heating and cooling system, which was installed in all flats.

Appartment building called Joutsen (Swan in english) is a four floor building with 18 stylish and modern appartments. The building will be attached to local heat network in near future. In each appartment, there is an appartment specifc underfloor heating system with Comfort Port solution.

Jyväskylän Holvi is a new apartment building with 43 apartments right in the heart of Jyväskylä. Uponor Tacker underfloor heating system and Uponor Smatrix Base room control system were installed in each apartment.

A housing company in Turku saved time and money using Uponor's Cefo pipe overhaul

The Petreliuksenrinne housing company controls a group of residential buildings that were constructed in 1969. The company manages 124 flats, which were subject to an overhaul of their water supply and sewerage systems. The floor drains, bathrooms, electricity distribution and antenna systems were also overhauled.

Line renovation is easy with the Uponor technical wall

Sampo plc has chosen the Uponor technical wall as the solution for the renovation of the damp areas in several blocks of rental flats. The project is expected to run from March 2015 to February 2017. There are a total of 150 flats at the sites.

Aleksanterinkatu 5 in Lahti will be completed with R2I blocks

An 8-storey apartment is rising in a former bank district in Lahti. The target will contain 265 apartments and is designed by A1 Arkkitehdit Oy and will be built by Nuorisosäätiö. There are 256 rental apartments reserved for students on floors 2-7. Uponor R2I blocks will be installed in all of the student-apartments in connection with bathroom and kitchen elements. Aleksi 5 is the first new destination in which R2I blocks are being delivered and in which sound-absorbing Decibel drains are used.
