Blue is the new green

Uponor is leading the effort of producing sustainable construction materials for commercial, residential, and infrastructural purposes. Sustainability is central to our mission, vision, and strategy.

That is why we have created the Uponor Blue product family. Uponor Blue products help you achieve your environmental and carbon footprint reduction goals.

Uponor Blue offering meets the same standards, requirements, and performance as the traditional products. The methods and CO2 ratings are validated with ISCC and EPD certifications.

By choosing an Uponor Blue product, you can be confident in making the right decision today, for the environment of tomorrow. Uponor signature colour is blue, and we use it as our flagship to endorse our sustainability commitment. With Uponor, Blue is the new green.

Moreover, Uponor Blue products align with UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, such as climate action, clean water and sanitation, and responsible consumption and production.
With Uponor Blue, you will be on track to reduce carbon emissions by 55% by the year 2030. This reduction target – “Fit for 55” – is set by the EU, and it is an intermediate step on our way to a carbon-neutral Europe.

The future will be only about sustainable products, or you are out of the market.

What makes Uponor Blue products sustainable?

Uponor Blue products can be sustainable in different ways – either by using renewable or recycled materials in their composition or by ensuring resource savings through greater performance. While the Uponor Blue offering helps you meet your carbon reduction goals, it also meets the same standards, requirements, and performance as the traditional products.

We provide full data transparency to ensure the sustainability of our products. This makes it easier for you to demonstrate the positive impact of your project. All our sustainability approaches are independently validated with third-party certifications. Thanks to our Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and International Sustainability & Carbon Certifications (ISCC Plus), you can be confident about the amount of CO2 reduction when you choose a Uponor Blue product.

Mass Balance

The Mass Balance approach is one of the easiest and most cost-effective methods to cut the carbon footprint from infrastructure product manufacturing.

It consists of partially replacing fossil-based virgin material with renewable feedstock, which can be traced back to the first collection points. It enables gradually shifting from fossil to renewable raw materials, with little impact on the product cost.

Environmental Product Declaration

The EPD is a standardized and third-party verified document reporting a product’s environmental impact. It assesses the product’s entire life cycle to provide its carbon footprint.

This allows forward-thinking organisations to reliably compare products fulfilling the same function. Uponor already has many of its products validated by an EPD to transparently report on the environmental impact.
