Developers for the Journal Squared chose a PEX plumbing system, which aligned with their sustainability, reliability, and installation goals. The PEX system offered a more sustainable solution than copper, providing a lower carbon footprint from extraction through installation. The corrosion resistance, freeze-thaw resilience, high-degree of crosslinking and proven performance of PEX, along with a trusted 25-year warranty on the Uponor AquaPEX® pipe and ProPEX® fittings, gave developers confidence that the PEX system was designed to last. Because of the easy-to-use qualities of the PEX expansion connection system, the project finished on time and on budget by eliminating the need for torches and fire watches. The lightweight nature of PEX further boosted efficiency and allowed the installers to move quickly across the jobsite during the installation.

Luxury High-Rise Benefits from Uponor PEX

Because of its alignment with the bustling culture of innovation in nearby New York City, the developer for 99 Hudson in Jersey City, N.J., wanted a plumbing solution that offered long-standing quality and reliability while the installing contractor required a system that offered the most efficient installation possible to maximize profitability. An Uponor AquaPEX^® plumbing system with ProPEX^® fittings met both needs to provide a durable, reliable, and efficient domestic-water system for the unit risers and in-suite plumbing.

PEX Drives Efficient In-Slab High-Rise Install

ACCO Engineered Systems sought a plumbing solution that could be installed in a concrete slab to allow for higher ceilings in the residential units. This type of installation had never been done before by any other plumbing contractor in the city of Los Angeles. Going into the project, they knew they had a tight installation timeline of plumbing one 16-unit floor per week and needed a system that facilitated a quick installation while maintaining reliability. The plumbing subcontractor, ACCO, also wanted a strong product warranty for added confidence. They have a long history record and are well versed in high-rise installations, so they wanted a brand that offered support throughout the entire construction cycle to help ensure a smooth installation from start to finish.

Very recently, the new Little C building project was completed. Fifteen impressive buildings with New York-style architecture adorn the Rotterdam waterfront near the Euromast. Residential towers bring architectural challenges, including increased pressure on the pipes. Nathan came up with a cost-effective solution.

As part of a close collaboration with Berkeley and Malcolm Building Services, Uponor has supplied its Uni-Pipe PLUS multilayer composite pipe (MLCP) and S-Press PLUS fittings to the Oval Village development in central London. Apartment building Varsta Oy

Line renovations in blocks of flats can be conducted significantly faster and more easily. The Uponor R2I cassette makes for a problem-free renovation. Thanks to advanced prefabrication, the project period is shorter and the risks are lower. The As Oy Varsta company in Turku is the first R2I pilot site. The site will be completed to an expedited schedule.

The company manages 124 flats, which were subject to an overhaul of their water supply and sewerage systems. The floor drains, bathrooms, electricity distribution and antenna systems were also overhauled.

Underfloor cooling adds value to new construction

Postitalo, the former post office building in downtown Tampere, got a new look in 2017 when it was renovated into new commercial premises and a block of flats was built on top. Aleksanterinkatu 5 in Lahti will be completed with R2I blocks

An 8-storey apartment is rising in a former bank district in Lahti. The target will contain 265 apartments and is designed by A1 Arkkitehdit Oy and will be built by Nuorisosäätiö. There are 256 rental apartments reserved for students on floors 2-7. Uponor R2I blocks will be installed in all of the student-apartments in connection with bathroom and kitchen elements. Aleksi 5 is the first new destination in which R2I blocks are being delivered and in which sound-absorbing Decibel drains are used.
