Ice-free pavement throughout the year in Lahti
The alterations to Aleksanterinkatu – the main street in the City of Lahti – will be completed by the end of 2016. The aim of the City's development projects is to make the centre more suitable for pedestrians and public transport. Uponor's role in the project is to build a snow melting system and the related frame lines for Aleksanterinkatu's pavements and zebra crossings. What is special about this project is that it marks the first time that Uponor's new Ecoflex Thermo Single 125/250 pipes have been used in Finland.
Hybrid solutions for storm water management
City of Lahti is building new neighborhood called Ranta-Kartano. While they were constructing basic infrastucture the city saw the possibilty to reserve some ground space for storm water management. Now there is a test running for different kind of storm water management. Uponor is involved with new type of storm water filter.

Clean drinking water for 17,000 scouts
Roihu 2016 – the 7th International Finnjamboree organised by Suomen Partiolaiset - Finlands Scouter ry, was held at the Evo campsite in Hämeenlinna on 20–28 July 2016. A camp for 17,100 people was built in a forest area owned by Metsähallitus. Some 3,000 participants arrived from abroad – from about 40 different countries. Uponor delivered 7,600 metres of pipes to the area. The pipes were used to supply clean water and to lead grey water away from the area in a controlled manner.
A project of large numbers
the topping out for the largest investment of the Finnish forest industry, the new bioproduct plant under construction in Äänekoski in Central Finland, took place on the construction site mid-May 2016. Hectic installation work on the site will continue before the plant’s test runs begin next spring. Uponor Infra delivers municipal engineering to the site, such as water, sewer and stormwater pipes, and a massive Weholite cooling water discharge pipe that is over one kilometre in length.
A new generation biotechnology factory
The object for the largest investment in the Finnish forest industry has been completed. Metsägroup's pulp mill in Äänekoski started operations in August 2017. Uponor Infra was involved in building a new generation bio mill.
New Uponor IQ –Storm water system - Sustainability and Quality in Road Infrastructure
In December 2011 Central Finland´s ELY –centre (The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment) started significant road constructing project in Jyväskylä. The aim is to create a new route between highways 18, 9 and 4, which helps reduce traffic jams and smoothes commutation. Uponor was chosen to be one of the suppliers due to our delivery capacity and overall cost efficiency.
