As part of the expansion of the Jaworzyna Economic Activity Zone (JSAG) in Jaworzyna Śląska, Uponor Infra supplied large-scale Weholite retention tanks with a total storage capacity exceeding 1,000 m³, providing a reliable stormwater retention system for one of the region’s key infrastructure projects.
Uponor was proud for the chance to contribute to such a worthy initiative – a facility dedicated to the care of sick children. Uponor specialists made a point of actively participating early on in the need-assessment and design phases of the project. Their contributions included a range of much-valued municipal engineering and building technology solutions.
Weholite pipes are light and easy to install. They really come into their own in a project in the harbour of Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand – the extension of an old stormwater line using massivepipes with an internal diameter of 3–3.5 metres. In this busy harbour area, it is not possible to carry outlarge-scale excavation work. The soil of the region and strong tides pose their own challenges.
Uponor’s Weholite technology was the key solution in a unique project in London, where the Lee Tunnel and Thames Tideway tunnel have the task of capturing an average of 39 million tonnes of sewage a year from the 35 most polluting combined sewer overflows (CSOs). An upgraded pipeline system was designed to reduce the number of overflows – and their environmental impact – from the sewers and treatment systems serving London. A particular aim is to limit pollution from the sewers and treatment systems connected to the Beckton and Crossness sewage treatment works.
A Weholite alkalization plant was installed alongside new groundwater intake facility in Kuhmo, Finland. The system is built in the factory, ready for installation.
New dry land fish farm which will produce 3,200 tonnes of rainbow trout annually is being build in Eckerö in the Åland Islands. Uponor Infra has provided design assistance and delivers the pipes and is responsible for their installation and welding.
